• Step 4 : Ask your friend to divide the current total by 2.

Ok. Here is a sample number calculation for you to understand this trick.
Say the first number is 5.
Double it, the result is 10, now add 4 and you get 14.
Divide by 2, equals 7;
Subtract the number you first thought of (5). The answer is 2.
